They call it Independence Day.
But long before any nation declared freedom from tyranny…
A greater freedom was declared — sealed not with ink, but with blood.
Not the blood of soldiers.
The blood of the Lamb.
You want to talk about liberty?
There is no freedom like the freedom Christ gives.
Because every man, no matter how free his country —
Is born a slave.
A slave to sin.
A prisoner of the flesh.
A puppet pulled by death.
And here’s the truth nobody wants to say on a patriotic holiday:
You can live in the land of the free and still be shackled in your soul.
Still addicted.
Still tormented.
Still dead inside.
Still walking in chains.
The Declaration of Independence was powerful.
But the crucifixion was eternal.
Because when Jesus rose, He didn’t just defeat death —
He shattered the very legal claim sin had over your soul.
He didn’t write a constitution.
He tore the veil.
He didn’t give you rights.
He gave you rebirth.
And in that moment —
When you called on His name…
When you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth…
Chains fell.
Slavery ended.
Independence was sealed.
But here’s the paradox:
In Christ, the only path to freedom is surrender.
You don’t fight your way out —
You die your way out.
To self.
To pride.
To control.
To the lie that you are your own savior.
You cannot liberate yourself.
But if the Son sets you free…
You are free indeed.
So on this day, while fireworks echo and flags wave —
Take a moment.
Drop to your knees.
And remember:
Freedom isn’t the absence of tyranny.
It’s the presence of Jesus.
And wherever He reigns…
There is liberty.
Scroll Sealed.
